PERMITTING GUIDELINES FOR FILMING IN THE SANTA FE REGION

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR MOST PERMIT SUBMISSIONS
- Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming City of Santa Fe or Santa Fe County (location dependent) – Minimum $1,000,050.00
  - City of Santa Fe: 200 Lincoln Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87501
  - Santa Fe County: 102 Grant Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87501
- Certificate of Insurance naming the Property (if private, city, county, or state-owned)
- Location Agreement(s) signed by Location Owner or Representative and Production
- City Indemnification Agreement (for Locations within Santa Fe city limits) - Download Agreement
- County Indemnification Agreement (for Locations within Santa Fe County outside city limits) - Download Agreement
- Acknowledgement Agreement (County) - Download Agreement
- Dismantle Agreement (County) - Download Agreement

UNIQUE DOCUMENTS FOR PERMIT SUBMISSION
- Overhead / Site Plan detailing Location, Base Camp, Crew Parking, Catering, etc.
- Notification Letter - Notification is required for all activities performed during the course of production (prep, filming, or strike). Night Filming requires signatures from notified area.

- Traffic Control Plan (TCP) for road work, street closures, no parking, intermittent traffic control (ITC)

  Local law enforcement is to handle all traffic holds on public streets. Certified Flaggers may be used with law enforcement approval in writing.
- Certification Cards for Flagging Contractors (if Police assistance unavailable)
- NMDOT Permit (if applicable)
- Pilot’s license(s) for Aerial Filming Activities (e.g. drone, helicopter, etc.)
Most Permits cannot be approved without these documents uploaded
The Film Office will generally approve film permits within the following guidelines:
- Standard Hours: In residential and commercial areas, standard filming hours are as follows:
  - Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
  - Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM.
- Notification is required for all activities performed during the course of production (prep, filming, or strike). Late Hours (10:00 PM to 7:00 AM requires notification signatures)
- All surrounding businesses and/or residences are to be notified in writing that production will be in their area. The notification letter must specify date(s), time(s), and on-site contacts. The notification letter must be distributed no later than 48 hours prior to production and a copy of the letter and a list of those contacted must be uploaded to the film permit the same day as the notification of the area.
- Firearms & Special Effects: In addition to obtaining a film permit, the brandishing or discharge of prop weapons and pyrotechnic effects does require notification of surrounding areas. Important: live ammunition is never allowed on film sets in the Santa Fe region.
- Aerial Filming Activity: The use of helicopters, drones, or other aircraft for filming purposes must permit through the film office.
- Intermittent Traffic Control: must upload a certified traffic control plan to the film permit. Local law enforcement is to handle all traffic holds on public streets.

- When filming on any property, access to the property must be always maintained for Emergency Services. Any gates and/or entrances must be open or manned during filming activities.
